The long awaited Super Mario Run game has finally launched for all iOS devices by the game developer Nintendo. The gaming giant is bringing the much loved Italian plumber Mario to iPad, iPod touch and iPhone worldwide. For those people who have been around since 1981 and have grown up playing the game on their desktops, the new game will kick in the nostalgia.
Super Mario Run: Things you need to know
The smartphone game was launched on December 15 all over the world. If the user has signed up for the notifications to the smartphone game, they will be told where the game can be downloaded. The smartphone game is now available for download on iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. Super Mario Run was released in the United States around 10am PST on December 15.
If you are downloading the game on your phone or some other device, you should know that the game takes around 370MB of your storage space. It does not sound like too much space but if you have a 16GB iOS device, you could have some problem. Also, if you have a slow and poor internet connection, the app will take a lot of time in downloading. The game is free to play for the first three levels but after that, to play all the 24 levels, you will need to pay $9.99 in the United States and Rs.620 in India.
This further makes the popular game one of the most costly games on the App Store. However, we advise you to try the game before buying it. The game is not for all smartphones currently, only for iOS devices (as mentioned above). The gaming giant Nintendo may bring the Super Mario Run to other devices, including Android, soon but we do not have a date yet. According to reports, the game will release on Android in the coming year.
Super Mario Run is always online
The much awaited game of Nintendo cannot be played offline. According to the creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, you will need a constant internet connection to play the Super Mario Run. Miyamoto told Mashable that the decision to keep it always online was taken to battle the piracy of the game. Miyamoto said they view their software as being a very important asset for them.
He added that for their customers who are buying the game, they want to ensure that they are able to offer the game to them in a way that software is safe and the customers are able to play it in a stable environment.
When asked whether the creator was referring to the risk of piracy in security, he said, “That’s correct.” He added that the game is not launching in a limited number of countries unlike their dedicated game devices. Further, the creator of the game said that the gaming giant is releasing the game in 150 countries and all those countries have different network environments. Miyamoto concluded saying, “So it was important for us to be able to have it secure for all users.”
