Smartphones of Sony to launch in the MWC event and their specifications

The MWC 2017 event of Sony is slated to take place at 1pm IST on February 27. According to a report by a Japan-based source, the smartphone making giant will disclose all five new devices at MWC and these five smartphones will be encompassing all price brackets.

The last few rumors have hinted a successor to the compact Xperia XA smartphone and two new mid-range phone devices powered by MediaTek SoC.  As Xiaomi and Samsung have opted to skip MWC this year, the focus has not shifted towards the likes of Moto and LG to bring some new excitement.

The smartphone codenamed ‘Yoshino’ has the following specs, according to reports:

  • A 5.5-inch 4K display with pixel density of around 802ppi
  • Snapdragon 835 SoC (this will first release on Samsung Galaxy S8 before other smartphones)
  • Come in both 4GB and 6GB RAM variants
  • The new IMX400 camera sensor

Another smartphone in the lineup is Sony BlancBright that will be powered with either Snapdragon 653 or 835 SoCs and will come in a 5.5-inch QHD display. In addition to this, the smartphone is reported to have the same IMX400 camera sensor. In terms of storage, the phone will have 4GB of RAM. Sony ‘Keyaki’ will be following ‘BlancBright’ in the lineup. The smartphone appears to be a mid-range mobile device, which will come with 64GB storage, 4GB RAM, and MediaTek’s Helio P20 SoC. Moreover, the smartphone dubbed Keyaki is rumored to have 23MP/16MP cameras and a 5.2-inch Full HD display.

Sony to reveal more at its conference on 27th February

The other two devices in the Sony lineup are anticipated to be the budget offerings dubbed ‘Mineo’ and ‘Hinoki.’ According to rumors, the Hinoki could feature a 5-inch HD display, along with 32GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, 16MP/8MP front cameras, and MediaTek Helio P20 chipset. There is still no data on Mineo as of now but the pricing is anticipated to be somewhere below $350.

The smartphone making giant has not released so many products at a single event – this would be its first time so there will be a lot of expectations as well as predictions. The smartphone maker could be looking to shift its focus to mid-range devices, with the upcoming releases. The smartphone making company is planning a press conference on 27 February (Monday), which is the first official day of Mobile World Congress, so we are expecting to hear more about Sony’s plans for this year at the conference.
