Mr. Trump is clearly finding the wrong target for his outrage: Media
The state news agency was slamming the US Donald Trump for his emotional venting on the micro-blogging giant – Twitter – after the President complained on the social media platform that China is not assisting the US in reining the nuclear weapons programme of North Korea. On Sunday, Mr. Trump declared on the social media platform that he is very disappointed in China. The tweet by the US President came after North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile in defiance of United Nations sanctions.
Trump wrote, “Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk.” He added, “We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!”
The news agency of China wrote its 1,000 Chinese-character editorial that the US President is clearly finding the wrong target for his outrage. According to The New York Times, Xinhua said, “What the peninsula needs is immediately stamping out the fire, not adding kindling or, even worse, pouring oil on the flames.” It added that the tension could evolve into a “localized conflict, or even the outbreak of war, with unthinkable repercussions.”
Beijing needs a more cooperative partner not one who piles blame on China: Media
The state’s news agency said that Beijing needs a more cooperative partner in the White House to realize its goals, not a partner who piles blame on China for the failures of the United States. The state news media and China-based diplomats have asserted that the US and its allies should not depend on China so much to ease their tensions, especially the tension created by the growing nuclear weapons programme and missile capabilities of North Korea.
North Korea tested a ballistic missile on Friday that according to experts have the range to reach the West Coast. US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a statement after the launch that Russia and China bear unique and special responsibility for the growing threat of North Korea to regional and global stability.
