On Monday, the China-based e-commerce giant – Alibaba Holdings – announced that this fiscal year, Tmall.com will license more than 10,000 physical stores in China. These physical stores, which will be under the brand of Tmall, will be well-targeted and smart.

Tmall physical store to receive support from Alibaba Distribution Platform

Tmall.com, which is one of the most popular online trade platforms in the country, will be cooperating with the online retailing company’s service platform – Alibaba Distribution Platform – to upgrade stores in residential communities as its brick and mortar stores with the help of brand authorizing. The stores, for example, will have convenient supply chain provided by Alibaba Distribution Platform.

Alibaba Distribution Platform, in the meantime, will give advice on the most popular goods in the neighborhood and the way of shelf displays on the basis of data. The physical stores of Tmall will be upgraded on the basis of Alibaba Distribution Platform, said Lin Xiaohai, vice president of Alibaba.

Alibaba Distribution Platform provides a series of services like sales marketing, ordering goods, value added service and logistics. Alibaba Distribution Platform has provided services to over 500K stores so far. Liu Jianfeng, director of the product center of the platform, said “With the help of big data analysis, traditional small shops will save their costs. In the future, these Tmall physical stores will receive support from Alibaba Distribution Platform on sales marketing and application of smart technologies.”

Partnerships helping Alibaba to rise in the market

In recent week, the online retailer established several partnerships around the world. The alliances revolved around two main themes – one, the intrusion of e-commerce companies into the traditional retail space and two, the rising trend of Chinese travelers making their own travel arrangements rather than depending on a travel agent.

The partnerships will make good use of e-commerce platforms of the online retailers and highly popular Alipay payment arm. These deals will make sure that the online retailing giant sees growth in the market rapidly and steadily.
